Posted by webmaster On September - 26 - 2004

Well, the first official day of my travels are underway. On the way to Bedford VA., I realized that I needed this years flu shots. I happened to remember it because when traveling south on Rt. 29 from Charlottesville VA, in the direction of Lynchburg VA. you pass my doctors office.

Final Stages, Prayers

Posted by webmaster On September - 20 - 2004

Monday. Technically the second day of the week. I have always found that it felt like the first day.

I slept well. I feel refreshed. I feel a tad nervous, and yet excited. After all, it’s not often that one just pulls up stakes and heads out into the unknown, without any real purpose save one: To find ones self and discover God more fully.

But is it any different than, say, heading out to a mountain for the day to just be quiet and listen? Well, it is a bit more of a commitment, to be sure. Rather than a few hours, a true pilgrimage is a journey that can last days, weeks, months…..even years. And since I am trusting on divine provisions for my daily needs met, it is more of a test of ones intestinal fortitude and faith than is a picnic.

A trip to a hillside may be for a day. A pilgrimage may be for life. Selah.

As an aside, I am listening to Hearts of Space this morning as I type this. Choral Music I think it is. This helps to center me on things that are eternal, not so much temporal. I have to travel to Richmond, so it sets the mood for me.

Lil' Blue just before our trip!

Lil’ Blue just before our trip!

OK, I have so much to do. Shopping for suit case, mini cooler, some cloths, pick up meds, leaving key and codes with my brother and more…..I took a photo of Blue pre-trip. Man he looks great. What do you think? Here he is….

Handsome ,eh?

[Editors note: It's been three years since that wonderful journey. Life has changed so much since then, but I am eternally grateful for this experience.]

(Editors Note 11/23/06: Two years later, and my biggest regret is that I did not find a way to hold on to Blue.)

Countdown To Liftoff

Posted by webmaster On September - 19 - 2004

Well, ’tis Saturday night/Sunday AM and I have been testing this blog to make sure all the features are operable. So far so good. Many loose ends to tie up before I depart, this blog being one of the loose ends.

I hope I can get it together by Monday!

Travelers checks or not travelers checks?? And how much?? Hmmm.

Welcome

Posted by webmaster On September - 16 - 2004

Thus begins the Chronicles of my pilgrimage to various places I have wanted to see for a long time. Hopefully, some of you will come along for the ride. May you find the journey as interesting as I hope to myself.

When you link to a complete entry, you will also have a chance to add your own comments at the bottoom of the page. Feel free to mention anything you like, accept of course vulgarity and flaming. Also, spamming will not be tolerated.

I hope that you enjoy this Travelblog.

UPDATE 10/29/04: I want to thank everyone who has helped me from the beginning with the development of this blog. First, there was Linear of Greymatter fame. Thank you for helping make this web blog function. When my mom got sick and as her needs increased, more and more of my attention went to her (God bless you mom, I am glad we had this time together). I spent so little time online during that period that I almost forgot how to develop web sites. I had so much trouble with the layout of this site, and I was not sure I would ever get it looking like I wanted it to look. Thanks to Linear I was able to get this site off and running.

Then came Movable Type. Making the transition from one blog engine to a new one is hard enough to say the least. But many folks chipped in to help me make the move over. This one’s for all the geeks at Movable Type.

Finally, here we are at Wordpress. I have to say that the Wordpress Community is the best. By far, of all three blog communities I have been a part of, WP is the best. Their program is out of this world fun and I think it looks great. Of course, I hope you do as well.

The transition from Movable Type to Wordpress is not yet complete. I still have all the image links to deal with and this will take some time. So, bare with us, and thanks for stopping buy.

(Editors Note: 11-22-06 Notice the dates of this post? This was my first entry. Just over two years ago. I can’t believe I have kept this going all this time. Wow.)
