Some Catching Up To Do: Fancy Gap Gyms, VW Corrado’s and Puppy-dog Tails
Well, I am now in Manteo, NC, but before I go into Manteo and what brought me here, I need to post several miscellaneous photos of Fancy Gap, Winston Salem and Tarboro…….
The first set of Photos are from Fancy Gap. They consist of Tom Woody’s VW Corrado, which he built from scratch; some photos of the gym in Fancy Gap and of course, the cutest little flirt in all of Fancy Gap, Molly, a baby Basset Hound that was good enough to eat, and boy oh boy did I just gobble her up. She is without a doubt the cutest pup I have ever seen….just look at that face….”Love meeeeee, Love meeeeee!” And here she is America….the flirtiest lil girl in Fancy Gap, Molly! What a mush button!
Woody is a very bright gye and what do you expect from a VW owner. Hehehe
He has some progressive ideas for the Internet too. I met Thomas Woody while I was in Fancy Gap, of course. He had left a note on the windshield of Blue asking if we might get together and compare cars. He lived just up the road from where I was staying.
Anyway, I called him and we arranged to get together the next day for breakfast. We lavished praise upon each others cars, talked about the Andy Griffith Show, pontificated and philosophied about this topic and that. In general, we hit it off and we are still friends to this day. We speak about once a month and as soon as I get another VW I am sure he and I will meet at another VW get-together.
While I as at Fancy Gap I had the great pleasure of training at one of the oldest gyms I have ever trained at. Funny thing is I cannot recall the name, but I do remember the feeling I had when I walked into the place. I found tons of old Nautilus equipment!!! You just cannot find this stuff any more and man alive, I was in heaven. Just look at these photos!
They had the complete line of Nautilus stuff. I am so sad that you cannot find these machines anywhere these days. Arthur Jones really did know what he was talking about. Nautilus is still in business, mind you. They have some great equipment too. The best as far as I am concerned.
The next place I traveld to was Winston Salem NC. This is a very charming town with charming streets and charming homes. Some of these houses are best described as cottages and they are really something to behold. I wish I owned one of these homes.
Just walking up and down neighborhood streets is a real joy. These houses date back a couple hundred years or so. The President of UNC lives in the yellow house featured in this photo. It is not the best picture, but you get the idea.
From Winston Salem I travelled to a small town called Tarboro, NC. It was there that I stumbled across another gym. The quality of gym was amazing, especially when you consider that Tarboro may have been even smaller than Fancy Gap. Believe me when I tell you that Tarbor has the 2nd best gym I have ever trained at: its called B&G Gym.
B&G Gym is a state of the art facility located in the middle of nowhere. It was huge and I hope the photos can convey the size. Honestly, I do not think the pics do their facility justice. B&G was simply awesome.
I trained there for several days and had a blast. The folks were nice, the employees were cool and the equipment could not have been better.
While in Tarbor I did some laundry, too. And at the laundry I met the cutest little boy and his mother, Kenneth and Felicia. I want to wish them all the best as well. You guys are the sweetest people. Kenneth will be either a lawyer, a doctor or I think maybe even a professional baseball player when he grows up. I just have a feeling about this little boy. His mom is doing a great job. I didn’t have my camera, otherwise I would have taken a photo of them while I was there.
