I wrote some free software to help Bentley owners, etc. carry out road test simulations on their cars, and gave a link to download. The moderators use a good ol' boys club mentality to control the forums. Long time member and friend of one of the mods? Post anything you like. High paying sponsor? Be a complete jerk, spam the forums, etc. Newbie that bites back after getting his ass chewed? BAN! Defending a friend in a similar situation? BAN! I myself have been banned a few times, and not once was it for attacking someone but rather defending myself after a good round of e-thugery. I have some friends that while nice in person are unfortunately notorious e-thugs that have been going by the same screen name for going on a decade now without a single ban. It fosters a poor environment and makes the VW scene in general look bad. Luckily other VW forums have started to sprout up and Vortex has some competition. That's the atmosphere you'll get in the model specific forums at vwvortex. Some of the more general level forums are fine, but those are not really vortex only areas. If you need some tech support on vw's, there are other far better forums out there that seem to stick to business. vwforum is one of them. thesamba is another for air cooled cars. Understandably, VW Vortex has a huge member base, and sadly many of the people who belong to that community are internet bullies who spoil the fun for everyone. He had a couple of useful products, but just didn't get the fact that he couldn't write ECU code, & that on a turbo engine, that was a time bomb. He's blown up too many engines over the years, & always blamed the consumer, not his lack of programming skills. The State of Maryland has a website where you can look up lawsuits, & criminals, etc. He was listed an awful lot of times for it just to be coincidental.
