The images at Blues Travels are of two types: Flash and DHTML. Mostly I use DHTML. The images (and even some of the link-text on this site) are controlled simply by clicking. The images on this page, for example, are clickable thumbnails. Once they are clicked, they expand. Once expanded, they can be grabbed and moved around with your mouse. To close them, click inside the image a second time. It might take a bit of practice, but you are a smart cookie. I have faith that you will master the skill in no time flat!

Back in the mid-90′s I spent a good amount of time training at a gym in Williamsburg VA where my girlfriend lived at the time. This was one of those gyms that hearkened back to the 60′s era, when gym floors were made out of wood, the stack machines squeaked and the bars had just the right amount of rust on them. The name of the gym was Iron-Bound Gym. I loved this place. I had some of the best workouts of my life there. The last time I trained there was around 1998.

Snow, My Tweeter Is Broke and Lynchburg Is The Same

Posted by webmaster On March - 16 - 2005

Well, it is Wednesday. I am still here in Lynchburg as my parts (for Blue) did not arrive yet. It is OK though. It has been a nice time for reflection. I will meet Jay Roberts for breakfast today if all goes as planned. This is getting quite frustrating, but I am sure it will work out.

In the meantime, one more breakfast at Day Break. Yum!

By the way, one of Boo’s little tweeters is broken. Sheez! Thank goodness for warranties.

Wingate Inn of Lynchburg, Virginia and some other sleep-ins

Posted by webmaster On October - 31 - 2004

Sometimes when I write about one of my stays, I find myself more or less going through the motions. Now I know it is important to chronicle my journey, my experiences and my growth. After all, that is really what this trip has been, and continues to be about. But I would rather be inspired one way or another, when I write about an experience.

There are times when I feel inspired. There are times that I really look forward to writing about one of my stays. Sometimes it is because the stay was so overwhelmingly good that I just cannot wait to tell you guys about it. At other times it is because a stay was so poor that I want to inform my readers as to my experiences so they can avoid my disappointment.

Milan Indian Cuisine and The Daily Grind of Lynchburg, Virginia

Posted by webmaster On October - 28 - 2004

I have discovered several wonderful places to get tremendous service and great food at a reasonable price. One is an Indian restaraunt called Milan, and another is an internet coffee cafe called The Daily Grind. Both are in Lynchburg, Virginia. :satisfied:

Fancy Gap and Fancy That; The Skyland Lakes Golf Club

Posted by webmaster On October - 13 - 2004

Well, with each new place I travel to, I find new joys and encounters that have done wonders for my spirit and my faith.

Within the human heart is a God-built desire to encounter the divine. This desire is God’s calling card to us, in my opinion. Doesn’t every person long for a divine connection and a reason to believe?

This trip has shown me that the best way for anyone to prove to themselves that God is there and that he loves them, is to get out there in the world, away from all that is safe, familiar and comfortable, and let God show Himself. As long as we are trusting in the confines of the safe and familiar (which is not a bad thing in its proper place and time, mind you), God is not as easily perceived or envoked. When we let go of what we are holding on to, we then have to fill that vacuum by grabbing on to something else. It is at times like these that the Seeker, if he is wise, will grab on to God, at least I tend to think that is what the wise man (or woman) does……

Roanoke, VA- Mainstay Suites

Posted by webmaster On October - 11 - 2004

Short props go to Mainstay Suites in Roanoke, VA.

I can’t say enough about the staff there. They worked so hard for my business. Let’s face it, I don’t have much money and I sure as heck don’t look like I have much money, and yet they bent over backwards for me.

My new Apple PBG4 was having difficulty with their WiFi network. They shuffled me around between 6 rooms looking for a room that would allow me a connection, and we never found one either. They were so patient with me that rather then head next door to the Comfort Inn, which offered better WiFi quite possibly, I decided to stay for the night. I did all my work in the lobby and no one cared a whit….

Bedford, VA – Moments; National D-Day War Memorial

Posted by webmaster On October - 10 - 2004

Today was a good day. It was a day for reflection.

When I got back to my hotel room I found myself in a very pensive mood. I sat there quietly in the dark, thinking about the past four years of my life. For what ever reason it dawned on me that there are two very different types of people in this world. Yet, as different as they are they share something in common.

One type of person is the quiet type who is content staying within themselves. They often stay at home, never venturing out of their comfort zone very much. They may pass through this world unnoticed by the masses, and are perfectly content to do so. They may not be successful in the traditional sense and they may never make a profound impact on the world in the way that someone like Bill Gates did. Still, in their own way these people make the world go round. They often make the best of friends. They are wonderful listeners. They are often loyal. At least this has been my experience. I enjoy this kind of person. At times I have been this kind of person.
