Snow, My Tweeter Is Broke and Lynchburg Is The Same

Well, it is Wednesday. I am still here in Lynchburg as my parts (for Blue) did not arrive yet. It is OK though. It has been a nice time for reflection. I will meet Jay Roberts for breakfast today if all goes as planned. This is getting quite frustrating, but I am sure it will work out.

In the meantime, one more breakfast at Day Break. Yum!

By the way, one of Boo’s little tweeters is broken. Sheez! Thank goodness for warranties.

Why I Left Charleston, SC; Another Visit Down The Road Perhaps

I am currently in Lynchburg, visiting with some friends. The last week I have been in Charlottesville spending time with my brother. Why, you may ask? Well…

Holiday Inn Express, Pawleys Island; Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort at Pawleys Island, South Carolina

OK, so it’s been a while since my last entry. In fact, it’s been too long. But I cannot help it. I was too busy relaxing to write.

Really, I was.

At the advice of one of my most well traveled friends, I left Charlotte for Wilmington, North Carolina. He told me this was a town I had to see. He also told me to stay in the historic district if I could. He said I would really have fun. And he would have been right, had I been able to find a downtown area to stay in, and had I stayed more than 12 hours. As fate would have it, neither of those things happened. And the rest is …well….you decide.

Fancy Gap and Fancy That; The Skyland Lakes Golf Club

Well, with each new place I travel to, I find new joys and encounters that have done wonders for my spirit and my faith.

Within the human heart is a God-built desire to encounter the divine. This desire is God’s calling card to us, in my opinion. Doesn’t every person long for a divine connection and a reason to believe?

This trip has shown me that the best way for anyone to prove to themselves that God is there and that he loves them, is to get out there in the world, away from all that is safe, familiar and comfortable, and let God show Himself. As long as we are trusting in the confines of the safe and familiar (which is not a bad thing in its proper place and time, mind you), God is not as easily perceived or envoked. When we let go of what we are holding on to, we then have to fill that vacuum by grabbing on to something else. It is at times like these that the Seeker, if he is wise, will grab on to God, at least I tend to think that is what the wise man (or woman) does……

Roanoke, VA- Mainstay Suites

Short props go to Mainstay Suites in Roanoke, VA.

I can’t say enough about the staff there. They worked so hard for my business. Let’s face it, I don’t have much money and I sure as heck don’t look like I have much money, and yet they bent over backwards for me.

My new Apple PBG4 was having difficulty with their WiFi network. They shuffled me around between 6 rooms looking for a room that would allow me a connection, and we never found one either. They were so patient with me that rather then head next door to the Comfort Inn, which offered better WiFi quite possibly, I decided to stay for the night. I did all my work in the lobby and no one cared a whit….

Bedford, VA - Moments; National D-Day War Memorial

Today was a good day. It was a day for reflection.

When I got back to my hotel room I found myself in a very pensive mood. I sat there quietly in the dark, thinking about the past four years of my life. For what ever reason it dawned on me that there are two very different types of people in this world. Yet, as different as they are they share something in common.

One type of person is the quiet type who is content staying within themselves. They often stay at home, never venturing out of their comfort zone very much. They may pass through this world unnoticed by the masses, and are perfectly content to do so. They may not be successful in the traditional sense and they may never make a profound impact on the world in the way that someone like Bill Gates did. Still, in their own way these people make the world go round. They often make the best of friends. They are wonderful listeners. They are often loyal. At least this has been my experience. I enjoy this kind of person. At times I have been this kind of person.

This site celebrates my passion for driving, traveling and dining. This site also celebrates my enjoyment of a certain Volkswagen R32, Blue! Blue was simply the most fun I have ever had behind the wheel of a car. We traveled so far in so short a period of time, and although I only got to have him for a little over 2 years, it's a period in my life I will never forget!
