Internet Explorer Users

Using any version of Internet Explorer could cause this site not display as well as it should. My apologies to all IE users for any inconvenience this may cause me, I mean, uh, you, cause YOU.

Can you tell I am not an IE fan? And it’s not just me. People are leaving IE for newer and better browsers by the thousands. That is why browsers like FireFox are growing in popularity.

Getting sites to display well in Internet Explorer has been a challenge for web designers since before Noah set sail for the nearest Pet Smart.

I have been playing with HTML for 13 years, and IE still presents a challenge. Sites just do no look as good in Internet Exploror as they do in all of the other browsers out there. Heck, even buttons (like search buttons) look better in other browsers. Can’t think of a better reason to switch browsers than that!

The problem is that other browsers are not nearly as strict as IE is when it comes to interpreting HTML code. Other browsers tend to look at code that may be less than optimal and find ways to resolve it, usually by ignoring meaningless errors. IE looks at a misplaced period or an extra empty space and it totally freaks out, slamming the door to a web site and saying, “Screw you guys, I’m goin’ home!”

The end result is chaos. You can have a web site that validates, has good CSS, and it will display in every browser in the world accept for IE. And because the web site may validate, you have no idea what the problem is and why your site looks so wonky in IE.

Just remember that the developers of IE work for a company that is owned by a man so riddled with guilt and full of hate for America that he unleashed a swarm of misquotes on an unsuspecting audience at a recent symposium just because he feels like Americans should not be the only people in the world to live free from the threat of malaria. I think that pretty much says it all.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Microsoft. They have some awesome software, but IE is not their best work.

Anyway, this site displays wonderfully in Safari, FireFox, Camino, Opera and Flock. Take THAT Internet Explorer.

You can download any and all of them here, but I recommend Firefox and Flock the most:
